An editorial itinerary
Between two lakes
An easy introduction for travellers who want water, woodland and room to pause. Use Fužine or the central highlands as a base; drive between destinations and choose short local walks.
Day 1
Fužine, at the water’s edge
Spend the first day around Lake Bajer. Add Vrelo Cave only if a guided departure fits your day, then settle into town for a meal. Let the lake take the rest of the afternoon.
Day 2
Lokve, then into the trees
Start with a view of Lokvarsko Lake. Continue to Golubinjak for woodland and limestone, checking local access first. Keep the remainder of the day free rather than committing to a full lake circuit.
